Health and Safety
At Long Lane Dental, your health and safety are of paramount importance to us. Our policies and procedures are constantly reviewed in line with current UK regulations to ensure a safe environment for all our patients and staff.
Please notify a member of staff immediately if you notice any area of concern so that we can take prompt action.
Our Patient Safety Charter
Our practice is committed to a strong safety culture. This means that patient safety is at the forefront of everyone’s minds, not only when delivering healthcare but also when setting objectives, developing procedures, and purchasing new products and equipment. It is an open and fair culture where team members can discuss challenges openly for the best interests of our patients.
To ensure your safety, we:
Follow the latest infection prevention guidelines from the relevant UK health bodies.
Use dental instruments that are single-use or are sterilised after each use.
Decontaminate all work areas, including the dental chair, handheld equipment and cupboard handles, between every patient.
Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, including the use of clinical clothing and restricted wearing of jewellery.
Monitor practice water for quality. Dental unit waterlines are disinfected and kept clear.
Handle all waste according to current UK regulations and dispose of it using licensed professional carriers.
Seek expert occupational health advice if a team member may have a blood-borne infection to ensure all guidelines are followed for the protection of patients.
Ensure all our team members are trained in the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and follow our practice safeguarding procedures, which are regularly monitored and reviewed.
We operate a clinical governance system that uses integrated risk management to identify, assess, analyse, and manage all potential risks and incidents. The goal of this system is continuous improvement in the care and service we provide to you.
The Practice Manager has overall responsibility for health and safety at the practice. The team is supported through regular meetings, ongoing training, personal development, and regular appraisals.
We always welcome questions, comments, and suggestions from our patients.
